NEW DISPLAY OF THE ANTHONY SHAW COLLECTION

28 Year Six children from Burton Green Primary

to 30 June 2021 

The Trustees of the Anthony Shaw Collection have great pleasure in announcing the new display at York Art Gallery, curated by 28 year Six children from Burton Green Primary School. As well as making choices from the collection they have made work, in several mediums,inspired by their choices.

Anthony Shaw says that ‘All children have an instinctive ability to create without needing rules to make jugements. Adults shut them done, urging the need to grow up and set aside their natural feelings. Artists spend a lifetime getting back the freedoms they had at the start of life
I have not yet had the possibility to see The Anthony Shaw Collection in reality - to touch the objects and learn their questions and answers. But I have met Anthony, the man behind this rich collection, who I trust - and as he trusts me to do this, we risk it together.'
