The Anthony Shaw Collection is pleased to announce its new exhibition - ‘GORDON BALDWIN - A CELEBRATION’.

ANTHONY SHAW, Founder Trustee of the Anthony Shaw Collection, selects ninety pieces of ceramic sculpture by Gordon Baldwin for this display at Billing Place. Originally drawn by both the sculptural and painterly aspects of the work, Shaw has been collecting Baldwin's ceramics for the Collection since the mid 1970s. He explains "The quiet beauty of his vessels that contrast volume and line with supposedly cool exteriors, masking many emotions, have forever changed my sense of beauty".

An idea that starts a series of pieces is pushed and pulled as Baldwin works through and the finishing texture and marks of the surfaces always suggest new and exciting possibilities. Over the years, portraits of Baldwin in his different studios have shown him surrounded by groups of work which is echoed in this display, although each piece deserves a room to itself.
